Bloculus Protocol Meeting
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Meeting Date: 24 October 2024
Meeting Time: 12:30 UTC
Meeting Location: call.element.io (see upcoming newletter email for url)
Highcroft Industrial Estate, Enterprise Road, Waterlooville, England, PO8 0BT – The WWFM Integrator Alliance, recently granted an R&D access license from British security group: DATRO Consortium Ltd, today announced its upcoming meeting about the Bloculus Protocol. Scheduled to commence 24 October 2024 at 12:30 UTC.
Details:
In order to welcome, introduce and unite new WWFM Integrator Alliance license holders and their local partners from around the world, one of the intellectual properties in its licensors arsenal of technologies will be presented, demonstrated (and custody transferred) to the WWFM Integrator Alliance – who may then trial, reverse engineer and possibly integrate Bloculus IP and/or R&D into the WWFM protocol.
This “Bloculus” meeting will focus on the Bloculus Protocol – which the DATRO Consortium has been researching and developing since 2021 (under an Open Government License). Bloculus combines a modified version of Uber’s H3 mapping protocol with a modified version of Handshake’s Top Level Domain (TLD) protocol. Combining thes two with the addition of GPS in WWFM Wi-Fi Access Points would create a purposeful addressing solution (both locally and in local proximity) for federated services to append themselves to. When two or more wireless access points connect to form a mesh network, the federated services running on either end can immediately and autonomously syncronise in a truly peer-to-peer way. This will be further explained and demonstrated in the meeting. But in lieu of the meeting here is a somewhat brief and primative explanation.
If WWFM-DSAP is in play (running from a homeserver connected to the clients existing Wi-Fi Access Point/ ISP) users would still be able to visit websites from devices on their network in the normal way e.g. with the domain name followed by the TLD e.g. “https://google.com”.
But if WWFM-DSAP detects a query for a federated service running over the WWFM mesh network aspect e.g. “https://element.io”. And the user and his neighbour (or someone in a proximity) have WWFM too, the address returned will actually be something more like “https://element.io.messaging.89283080fffffff”. The appended domain and TLD (messaging.89283080fffffff) maybe hidden, as not to cause alarm of confusion. So in scenarios of ISP’s failing to provide you access to the internet, for whatever reason, you’ll still have digital messaging, video calling, file sharing and cryptocurrency trading with neighbours. With more and more applications federating each month and more and more neighbours and neighbours of neighbours adopting WWFM each year.
This hybrid web2.0/ web3.0 solution may not be the exact direction WWFM Integrator Alliance decide to go, but the protocol and demo can be transfered from DATRO’s GitHub monorepo to WWFM’s if interested.
Agenda:

About WWFM:
WWFM-DSAP is an initiative for a free-to-access internet network protocol. The WWFM Integrator Alliance is committed to developing this protocol and making our ability to communicate, create and transact digitally with one another a free, sovereign and inalienable right. For more information, visit https://wwfm-dsap.com
Why this matters
As of 2024, there have been significant discussions and reports regarding key internet shutdowns, censorship, and digital alienation around the world. With a more sovereign internet, which the WWFM protocol would provide, shutdown and censorship of our ability to communicate digitally – wouldn’t be possible.
Offline People
Approximately 2+ billion people will still be offline in the coming few years according to the ITU and the World Bank.
Impacts of Censorship and Shutdowns
- Digital Alienation: Many individuals face isolation from global information, limiting access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
- Civil Rights: Ongoing censorship and internet shutdowns have raised concerns regarding freedom of speech and human rights, especially in authoritarian regimes.
- Economic Consequences: Shutdowns can lead to significant economic losses, impacting businesses that rely on digital platforms.
